Employer education offers payroll, human resources, and business managers an opportunity to learn and review PERA’s membership and reporting requirements.
PERA webinars are free to attend, but you must register in advance to access each session. During live sessions, attendees can ask questions and receive answers in real time during the Q&A portion. These Q&A sessions are compiled into a document which is posted with the recorded webinar.
Leave Reporting Webinar
Learn about the importance of the Annual Leave Report and which salary is eligible for purchase. Take a deeper dive into leaves and when/how they need to be reported, as well as how to complete the Leave Report. The presentation covers why the Annual Leave Report is important, what salary is eligible during leaves, different leave types and how to report them, and how to complete the Annual Leave Report.

Summer Earnings Report (School Employers Only)
School employers and contractors can learn about the Summer Earnings Report that is completed by schools. The report generates when PERA starts paying an estimated monthly benefit for a member; that benefit is based on the member’s highest average salary over 60 consecutive months, or five years. The earnings periods of any summer paychecks must be confirmed as a contract payment or actual hours worked before benefits can be finalized.

Maintaining Member Records
PERA-covered employers who work in payroll, human resources, or business management can learn how to accurately report employees’ enrollment and employment status information. Learn about enrolling members through ERIS, updating member employment statuses, and periodic reports to maintain member information.

Guide to Reporting Salary
As a PERA-covered employer working in payroll, human resources, or business management, you are responsible for accurate and timely reporting of your employees’ payroll information by completing a Salary Deduction Report (SDR) each pay period. This program covers contribution reporting in detail, including: a comprehensive overview of the SDR; how to make a payment for employer and employee contributions; and what actions to take once both the SDR and payment has been submitted.

Understanding ERIS
The Employer Reporting and Information System (ERIS) is a web-based tool that employers use to complete their PERA reporting tasks. If you have questions about ERIS, then you have come to the right place! This new training program will cover everything you need to know in order to access and utilize ERIS.

Understanding SVF Benefit Level Increases
A fire department’s SVF Plan benefit level is the dollar amount corresponding to each year of a volunteer firefighter’s certified service. The fire department’s governing body has the authority to approve benefit level increases for the fire department and may elect to do so once per year. This webinar provides information on how to assess a Plan’s current financial status and important considerations when considering benefit level increases.

2024 Legislative Update
The 2024 Pension and Retirement Policy and Supplemental Budget Bill was signed into law on May 15. This program will highlight the impact this bill will have on the administration of PERA benefits, and will help guide employers on what actions to take. This program will cover legislative changes related to Defined Contribution Plan (DCP) election rules, Correctional Plan rates, and the definition of police officers and firefighters for P&F Plan eligibility.
